THE WISHBONE HAS COME A LONG WAY..
From the ancient Asians to the free-thinking free-ranged Greek philosophers, the hearty and marauding Roman Empire, the animal-loving, triangularly-obsessed Egyptian Pharaohs, the multi-wife-engaging pommie monarchs,
the fathers of that little place called the USA and the kings of the surf at the best chicken shop on the best road by the best beach in Bondi.
The humble chicken has travelled far; traversing the continents, sailing the seas and bringing magic to many a welcome plate.
Not only did the Romans make straight roads, but they discovered the power of the chook, using its magical wishbone to predict the outcome of future battles, as a great excuse for another tasty rotisserie chicken meal and to make centurions’ dreams from true; which were probably
‘skip all this sword-wielding nonsense and head home for a tasty chicken feast’.
It was a piece of nutritional magic not wasted on the greeks, Egyptians, English, Yanks and now Bondi’s best, where you are welcomed with an outstretched pinkie to The Char, your local chicken dream team where perfectly cooked free-range rotisserie chicken is no longer wishful thinking, as you can see, a great chicken dinner is not just a tasty meal, it’s a dream come true.
So enjoy the chicken, live the dream and come back to the char soon.
